Bad Blogger is Bad

I was going to post a screenshot of my new sword today, but I’m forgetful and I forgot my jump drive with the screenie on it.

Sooooooo, I will give you a screenshot of a much less exciting nature.  The achievement page at wowarmory.com!

Yes, I now have Quel’Delar.  To be quite honest, I felt a little bad about rolling on it when I found out that it didn’t offer a tank sword.  Then I remembered a few things.  First, I am a lore nerd and the quest to get the sword is really amazing from a lore perspective.  Secondly, I pvp and this is a huge (200 top-end damage) upgrade over Reckoning.  Lastly, why the heck not?  It’s a unique weapon that has history, I deserve a shot at it just as much as anyone else.

For the stat freaks:

Quel’Delar, Might of the Faithful

  • Two-Hand Sword
  • 769 – 1155 Damage
  • Speed 3.6
  • 262.2 damage per second
  • 164 Strength
  • 164 Stamina
  • Improves Critical Strike rating by 99
  • Improves Haste rating by 91

How do you get Quel’Delar?  You have to loot a battered hilt out of the Heroic version of any of the new Icecrown 5-mans.  Once you loot it, you can start a quest chain that will take you to Quel’Delar’s Rest, south of the Argent Tournament Grounds.  After that you will be kited around from Wyrmrest to Dalaran to all three of the new 5-mans and finally to the Sunwell.

At the end of the quest line, there is a plate dps 2-handed sword, a hunter 2-handed sword, a 1-handed Agility sword and a caster sword to choose from.  If your class can’t use swords, there is a melee 1-handed mace, a 2-handed melee mace & a caster mace to choose from.

All in all, it’s an awesome item with some awesome lore and a fun questline.  If you have a chance to roll on the battered hilt, do it.

I won’t be blogging until 2010, so enjoy your holidays and a hearty Merry Christmas to you if you are so inclined.

Know Your Role!

I’ve written this post three times and each time I feel that I’ve come across as overly negative, so I’m going to make this one extremely short and sweet.

Please take the initiative to go out and learn ALL of the things your class brings to the table.  Examples are Death Grip and Mind Freeze for Death Knights, and Misdirect and Feign Death for Hunters.

These are abilities that might not make your dps go up, but will help everyone.  Have these abilities on your action bars in a convenient location.

I’m tired of carrying people who don’t know their class.

Tomorrow I should have pics of my new sword, but for now that is all.

For Your Viewing Pleasure

Yes, that’s me.  Yes, I stole the act from the original Evolution of Dance guy, but I don’t care, I worked hard to pull it off.  This is at my church’s young adult Christmas party.

For some WOW news, we failed to get Saurfang down.  It was promising though.  We got him to 10% multiple times with a less than desireable raid composition and a couple of our best dpsers were not present.  Having said that, working with the raid group you have at the time is part of the process and something we need to overcome.

Sadly, that was likely our last raid until after the new year, but we are still optimistic about getting him down before the next gate opens.

Been a long time…

but I’m back.  Why was I gone?  A few reasons, really.  Swamped at work, swamped at home, having trouble getting my files from home to work and probably a little burnt out to be quite honest.  Not on the game, but  blogging.

Fact of the matter is, I just didn’t have anything to say.  My guild was in a bit of a pre-patch lull and nothing really interesting was going on.

Things, however, have changed.

My little 10-man guild has dropped 3 of the 4 bosses in Icecrown Citadel.  We are going to work on Saurfang tonight.  I believe we will drop him, but I’ll actually go in and try the fight before I make any sweeping proclamations.

We dropped Marrowgar the first week, you know, when he was hitting people like a train?  Yeah, our tanks are geared.

Then we wiped on Deathwhisper for the rest of the night.  We came back, however, and finally showed her who was boss.  As can be seen below:

Let’s be honest here, Deathwhispers little blue ball corpse doesn’t make for the best screenie.

Unfortunately, I forgot to get a screenshot of the gunship, but we actually one-shot something on our first attempt!  Craziness I know.

I did get an interesting shot of one of those random occurances that just blows your mind though.  I went afk while flying over Icecrown.  When I came back, I was being beat on by a frost wyrm while standing on this:

For those having trouble seeing, that’s me standing HIGH above the ground on a very thin piece of rock/bone/whatever.  Somehow, I managed to get dismounted by a Frost Wyrm while afk and luckily land on that thing.  One yard to the left or right and I’m splatter.

So I really like Icecrown.  It’s a fun raid so far.  I don’t love that they nerfed Marrowgar already, but I’m happy we did it before he became easy.  I figure we’ll see the difficulty go up quite a bit once the gates open, but for now I’m not finding ICC too hard.  Of course, I haven’t even attempted Saurfang yet.  Hopefully I won’t be singing a different tune tomorrow.
